Women’s History Month Luncheon  – March 28, 2017  –  10:00am – 2:00 pm
at Pine Ridge Country Club – 30601 Ridge Road – Wickliffe, OH 44092

Joy, heartbreak, murder & scandal! The Lake County History Center is sponsoring this special luncheon in honor of Women’s History Month. Hear intimate firsthand stories about the seven Ohio women who became First Ladies. An event not to be missed from the storytellers who created “Behind the Dial” and “Soldiers in Petticoats.” Doors open at 10am; Program begins at 11am; Lunch served at noon. Menu: Chicken Marsala, roasted potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls, beverage, ice cream.

Ever since track was first laid for the great locomotives, hobos have listened to the call of the rails—hopping freights to travel from town to town, escape economic hardship, or satisfy their wanderlust.  Barbara Hacha talks about hobo life and culture.

Meal includes entrée, sides, dessert, tea, coffee, water. Entrée choices: Chicken ala King/Biscuit or Beef Stew in bread bowl. Selection required in advance. Additional drinks available for purchase.

 Program:Dollies & Doilies Mother’s Day Tea

May 13, 2017  –  1:00  – 3:00 pm
at Lake County History Center, 415 Riverside Drive, Painesville, Ohio  44077

Dress in your Sunday best and bring your favorite girl for an afternoon of fun. Learn about dolls and miniatures while enjoying delicious tea, light sandwiches, scones and other treats. Make paper dolls based on the original clothing of First Lady Lucretia Garfield and be sure to visit the Martin dollhouses on display at the History Center.

great lakes exposition 3  Program: “The 1936-1937 Great Lakes Exposition” by author Brad Schwartz 

Spring Dine Around Series – Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 6:00 pm

at Pickle Bills, 101 River St, Grand River, Ohio

The Great Lakes Exposition drew seven million visitors to Cleveland during the summers of 1936 and 1937. Exposition visitors could experience the latest technology, see a world-class aquatics show, watch a Shakespearean play, ride in a blimp, and experience the culture of 40 countries.

Meal includes entrée, sides, dessert, tea, coffee, water. Additional drinks available for purchase. Order from the menu that evening.

Learn about the original home stadium of the Cleveland Indians: League Park. This talk connects Cleveland’s early sports history with its geographic and economic changes in the city.

 Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast

June 18, 2017  –  10:00 am  – 1:00 pm
Dine on the grounds of the Lake County History Center, 415 Riverside Drive, Painesville, Ohio  44077

Enjoy a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee, tea & milk just right for the whole family. Don’t spend your Father’s Day Sunday working in the kitchen.  Relax & enjoy a leisurely meal surrounded by the lush green of summer.

Tickets: Adults: $10     Ages 3-11: $5     Under age 3: Free
