2019 Haunted Lantern Tours (Monthly)

Offered the 2nd Thursday of the month, 8-9:30pm at the Lake County History Center 415 Riverside Dr., Painesville, OH.

Do ghosts and spirits really haunt the former Lake County Poorhouse? Take our haunting evening tour where you’ll be able to experience the Lake County History Center after dark.

Come take a walk through the long dark corridors with nothing but a lanterns to illuminate the way. Escape into the past as our guides provide you with an eerie yet fun-filled adventure! You’ll visit all the locations around the Lake County History Center where shadows and ghostly figures are said to have been sighted. You’ll go to off-limits areas where many have reported hearing strange sounds and feeling unseen hands touch them.

You’ll hear stories of unbelievable historically documented events that have taken place in the past, including those in the infirmary and attic.  BRILLISNOW BALL originalANCE Lake Effect Snow Ball

 Warm up your winter at the ‘Lake Effect Snow Ball’ as you dance to the tunes of the Dan Zola Orchestra. The big band orchestra, steeped in the tradition of famous swing and dance bands will feature vocalist Dianne Palmer, who will take you back to the days of Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Helen Ward and a host of others.

Benefitting the Lake County Historical Society, you’ll delight in the dinner in a gorgeous ballroom featuring a sparkling winter décor reminiscent of the movie Dr. Zhivago. Raffles, games, and prizes will add excitement to the evening as you create your own Lake County history. $60 per person. The Lake County History Center provides rental space for groups and organizations that are looking for a unique location to hold their meeting, festival, or party. All rentals are under contract with rules in place to ensure the safety and preservation of our historic grounds, buildings, collections, and people. If you do not see an event you are attending at the History Center listed, it is more than likely a rental.
