Nurseries In Lake County : 2018 Ladies Who Lunch

Dine while you enjoy a presentation on the once booming local nursery industry, making many companies renowned both nationally and worldwide. Learn the stories of particular companies and their workers and how they’ve left a lasting impact on the area.

This is part of a fun, educational series returning for the summer months on three Thursdays at noon. There will be a light lunch, followed by a presentation on summer topics.

Note: Minimum 15 people to run the program. Reservations required.

Those Quirky Victorians : 2018 Ladies Who Lunch

Etiquette and social norms of the Victorians were complicated by peculiar beliefs & superstitions: a preoccupation with death & mourning; elaborate & exhaustive rules of etiquette; odd, even painful, fashions dictated by one’s standing in society. Strange hobbies, foods, literature & music – these were all a part of the times known as the Victorian era. Come join us as we examine the quirks of the period and compare how things have changed for better or for worse. Dine while you enjoy the presentation.

Taverns In Lake County : 2018 Ladies Who Lunch

Taverns played an important part in the settling of Lake County & the rest of the Western Reserve . They were the community centers of their day – church, school, town hall and social gathering places. Come hear the early stories of our taverns, including how Johnnycake Tavern got its name and why Frank Bryant had to race to catch a coach. Dine while you enjoy the presentation.

Kids’ Night Out 6:00–9:00pm at the Lake County History Center 415 Riverside Dr., Painesville, OH

Parents, enjoy a Friday night off! Let your little ones have fun with our brand new kids’ program. Vintage activities, crafts, and games will be the highlight of this historic evening. Weather permitting, outdoor fun will be included—the perfect opportunity to burn off the included pizza and snacks. Choose from one (or all) of our three Friday night dates! This program is available for kids aged 4 -10.

The Lake County History Center provides rental space for groups and organizations that are looking for a unique location to hold their meeting, festival, or party. All rentals are under contract with rules in place to ensure the safety and preservation of our historic grounds, buildings, collections, and people. If you do not see an event you are attending at the History Center listed, it is more than likely a rental.
