YMCA markerStarting on September 5, the Historic Lake County Alliance, an organization composed of many of the historical sites in Lake County, will host a History Treasure Tour to many of the Ohio Historical markers found around the county. You will follow clues during this self-driving tour, but be prepared – these clues aren’t for the faint of heart!

Participants will venture to each marker, take a photo that must include an individual taking the tour, then create a scrapbook or storyboard of memories and lessons learned at each marker. It’s a fun and exciting way to explore the history and heritage of our great county. (No envelopes of single photographs will be accepted)

Maps with clues and tour information may be purchased for $2 at the Lake County History Center, the Willoughby Area Welcome Center, Fairport Harbor Museum and Lighthouse, and the Willoughby Outdoor Market beginning September 5, during open hours. After you’ve picked up your clues, you can complete the tour at your leisure.  Completed  tour scrapbooks or storyboards are to be dropped off by October 10 at the Lake County History Center or the Willoughby Area Welcome Center. A reception for all participants to award prizes for the top three presentations will be on October 17, 1:00pm at the Lake County History Center. Presentations will be on display in Heritage Hall for public viewing. Come and grab your friends and family for this driving tour of Lake County history!
